Offshore Software Development for US Companies

The cost argument is real. The coordination cost is what most people underestimate.

Serving the United States

EasyWork Solutions works with US businesses that want software built in India — web applications, mobile apps, custom business systems and AI automation. The cost difference is genuine and well known. What determines whether an offshore engagement actually succeeds is almost always timezone handling and specification quality, so that is what we organise around.

In short

EasyWork Solutions is an Indian software development company working with US clients on web, mobile, custom software and AI projects. It operates a guaranteed daily overlap covering US Eastern mornings, contracts under its Indian entity with milestone payments in USD, supplies Form W-8BEN-E, and assigns full IP and source code to the client on final payment.

Working across a 9.5 to 12.5 hour gap

India Standard Time is 9.5 hours ahead of US Eastern and 12.5 ahead of Pacific. That is usually described as a benefit — "work happens while you sleep" — which is true only when the specification is genuinely unambiguous. When it is not, a single misunderstanding costs a full day instead of ten minutes.

We manage it with a guaranteed overlap window: our team works late enough to give US Eastern clients a live block in their morning, and we hold a written decision log so that any question blocking work is answered asynchronously rather than waiting for a call. Ambiguity is the actual enemy here, not distance.

The decision log is the part that does the work. Every question that could block progress is written down with the options and our recommended default, and if no answer arrives we proceed on the default and flag it. That converts a blocking dependency into a reversible one, which is the only way a twelve-hour gap stops costing days.

Contracts, IP and payment

We contract under Easywork Solutions Private Limited with a fixed-scope statement of work, milestone payments, an NDA if you want one, and full IP assignment on final payment. We invoice in USD and receive by international wire.

On tax: as a foreign vendor we do not withhold US tax, and you will typically issue a Form W-8BEN-E request — we provide it. Your accountant should confirm your own reporting obligations; we are describing what we supply, not giving tax advice.

One structural point worth raising early: the IP assignment needs to be in the contract, not implied by payment. US buyers who later raise capital or sell the business will have that chain examined, and reconstructing an assignment from an offshore vendor after the fact is considerably harder than getting the clause right at the start.

The real cost comparison, including coordination

The headline rate difference between a US development shop and an Indian one is large and genuine. It is also not the whole comparison, and vendors on our side of the transaction rarely say so.

Offshore engagements carry coordination cost: time spent writing specifications that would otherwise be a conversation, review cycles that take a day instead of an hour, and the management attention required from someone on your side. On a well-specified project that overhead is modest. On an exploratory one where requirements are discovered as you go, it can consume a meaningful part of the saving.

The honest guidance is that offshore works best where the problem is understood and the specification can be written, and worst where the product is being figured out through rapid iteration with users. If you are in the second situation, either keep it close or accept that you are buying capacity rather than savings — and structure the engagement accordingly rather than being surprised.

How we handle specification quality

Since ambiguity is the actual cost driver, most of our process is aimed at removing it before code is written. Written scope with acceptance criteria per milestone. Screen designs signed off before the build of that screen. A data model agreed early, because it is the most expensive thing to change later.

During the build we work in visible increments against a staging URL you can open at any time. That matters more offshore than locally: seeing the actual thing is the fastest way to discover that a written requirement meant something different in your head than in ours.

We also flag interpretation actively rather than silently choosing. When a requirement admits two readings, you get a note stating both, our recommendation and which we will proceed with absent an answer. It takes a minute to write and routinely saves a rebuild.

What we build most for US clients

Web applications and internal business systems are the largest share — customer portals, operations dashboards, quoting and scheduling tools, and the integrations that connect them to whatever the business already runs on.

Mobile applications, generally cross-platform, where a native build is not justified by the feature set. E-commerce and D2C storefronts including the parts that fail under campaign load. And increasingly AI and automation work: document extraction, support triage, and agents that handle the repetitive part of a process rather than replacing the process.

What we do not take on is a product where the engineering itself is your competitive advantage, or a multi-year enterprise programme requiring hundreds of people. Being clear about that early is not modesty; it is the thing that prevents a bad engagement six months in.

What drives the cost of a USA project

We do not publish a price list, because a number given before understanding the work is a guess someone pays for later. These are the factors that actually move the figure — worth knowing before you compare quotes.

  • How complete the specification is

The specification quality, not the technology, is what determines cost on an offshore project. Well-specified work runs close to estimate; exploratory work carries coordination overhead that erodes the rate advantage.

  • How much overlap you actually need

Daily live contact is available and worth it on complex work. Weekly checkpoints with asynchronous decisions cost less and suit well-defined scopes. Choosing deliberately is better than defaulting to daily calls.

  • Compliance requirements in your sector

Healthcare, financial and consumer-data obligations change architecture — audit trails, retention rules, access controls, data location. These are far cheaper designed in than added after a customer asks.

  • Number of third-party integrations

Each external system carries its own authentication model, rate limits, sandbox quality and failure modes. Integration count predicts timeline more reliably than feature count does.

  • Whether you need ongoing capacity or a finished deliverable

A defined project ends with a handover. Ongoing capacity alongside your team is a different arrangement with different economics, and deciding which you want up front avoids an awkward renegotiation.

How a USA project runs

  1. Scope and acceptance criteria in writing

A fixed-scope statement of work with per-milestone acceptance criteria, agreed before development. Offshore projects fail on ambiguity far more often than on capability.

  2. Set the overlap and communication contract

We agree the guaranteed daily overlap block in your timezone, who the single point of contact is on each side, and how decisions get recorded.

  3. Data model and designs signed off

The expensive-to-change decisions are settled first, with screen designs approved before the corresponding build starts.

  4. Build in visible increments

A staging URL open to you at any time plus regular working increments, because seeing the real thing is the fastest way to catch a requirement that was understood differently on each side.

  5. Flag interpretations rather than guessing

Where a requirement admits two readings you get both, our recommendation, and the default we will proceed on if no answer arrives — so a twelve-hour gap never costs a day.

  6. Milestone delivery and final handover

Working code in your repository at each milestone, then full IP assignment, source, design files and infrastructure credentials on final payment.

What you get on every project

  • A written scope with fixed milestones before any development starts — no open-ended hourly billing.
  • A staging URL you can check at any time, so progress is visible rather than reported.
  • One named point of contact, not a ticket queue.
  • Full source code, design files and hosting credentials transferred to you on final payment.
  • No lock-in: nothing we build depends on us continuing to host or maintain it.

How to evaluate a software company in USA

These are the questions worth asking any vendor bidding for your work, ourselves included. A firm that answers them directly is telling you more than a client logo wall does.

  • Ask for the IP assignment clause in writing before starting. US diligence will examine the chain later, and reconstructing it from an offshore vendor afterwards is genuinely difficult.
  • Ask what specific overlap hours you get, in your timezone, and whether that requires the team to work nights. A vendor promising full US-hours coverage from India is describing a turnover problem you will inherit.
  • Structure payment by milestone with working code delivered at each stage, so your exposure never exceeds the current milestone.
  • Ask how ambiguity is handled: is there a written decision log, and does work proceed on a flagged default rather than stalling for a day?
  • Be honest with yourself about whether your requirements are knowable. Offshore suits specified work; exploratory product discovery is where the rate advantage quietly disappears.

USA questions

What hours does your team work for US clients?

Our standard day is 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM IST. For US clients we hold a guaranteed overlap block covering US Eastern mornings, and schedule calls in your working hours rather than ours. We do not ask our team to work full US nights — teams that do burn out and turn over, which costs you more than the overlap ever saves.

How do we handle payments and contracts from the US?

Fixed-scope contract with milestone payments, invoiced in USD, paid by international wire. We supply Form W-8BEN-E for your records. Standard practice is an advance against the first milestone with the balance released on delivery of each stage.

Who owns the code we pay for?

You do, in full, on final payment — source code, design files, and all hosting and domain credentials. The contract assigns IP explicitly. There is no ongoing licence and no dependency on us for hosting.

What if the project goes wrong?

Milestone-based payment means your exposure at any point is limited to the current stage. You get working code at each milestone, in your own repository, so you can take the project elsewhere without starting over. We would rather structure it that way than ask you to trust a firm you have never met in person.

Is offshore actually cheaper once we account for management time?

On well-specified work, clearly yes. On exploratory work where requirements are discovered through rapid iteration, the coordination overhead can consume a meaningful share of the saving. We would rather say that plainly than have you discover it in month three — if you are in the second situation, treat the engagement as buying capacity rather than savings.

How do you stop a twelve-hour gap from costing a day per question?

A written decision log. Any question that could block work is recorded with the options and our recommended default, and if no answer arrives by our morning we proceed on the default and flag it clearly. That turns a blocking dependency into a reversible one, which is the entire trick.

Can you meet HIPAA or other US compliance requirements?

We build to the requirement your compliance adviser defines — access controls, audit trails, encryption, retention rules, data location — and we will sign the agreements your counsel requires where we are an appropriate party. We do not describe software as compliant, because compliance is a property of your organisation and its processes rather than of a codebase.

Where will our data be hosted?

Wherever you need it. If US data residency is a requirement we deploy to a US region on AWS or your preferred provider. This belongs in the first architecture conversation, because moving hosting after launch is disruptive and occasionally contractually awkward.

Do you work with US startups pre-funding?

Yes, with the same caveat we give everyone: if the engineering is your core differentiator, keep it in-house. For everything adjacent — the web layer, dashboards, integrations, internal tools — an external team is often the fastest route to a working product, and the IP assignment we contract under is written to survive investor diligence.
